I was a co-author on this study out of the Designing Education Lab. This pilot study explored the new phenomena of classroom belonging by tracking students in an introductory engineering class. We found that students’ sense of belonging in a classroom is positively related to grade performance. We also interviewed older engineering students to explore how they defined belonging.
